Back in Hazzard

HAZZARD COUNTY WELCOME MAT

Never time to get a nights sleep.

There are those that say us creative types, get our best ideas or inspirations at or near midnight. For me its usually about 03:00 hours, and usually due to a phone call from parts of the world by club officers.

They want something, they want it now and prompt me to get it done.

So I’ll scratch something together to satisfy their minds and then Git-R-Done imagesCAK1Q0KF Then go back to bed and try to catch sleep.

Got a glimmer of light from an almost forgotten member of the club, that I didn’t even know was around, still. Somebody told me he jumped ship, or was dead. But a Facebook search and friend request. Grandioso.

Course back then, it wasn’t Dave that I wanted to be around, his sister Becky was the one I had the crush on. For her age she had a set of headlights, that once you nestled between you just wanted to stay there.

Here lately I have been doing a bunch of reminiscing of Hazzard, as well as both club and when I attended Hazzard High. The near coincidences are too much coincidence and more like destiny. Consider Hazzard(Hagerman) High Schools colors are still today, orange and black. What’s the General Lee’s colors, orange body, black around the tail lights. Too many other spooky similarities that make the whole package come together there.

Hazzard High I think had the best curriculum of most area schools, at one time had an advanced natural talent class or as its on the Disney Channel, ANT Farm. We had for its time, a computerized learning center partly funded by the Feds, and of course my Mom & Dad. No thanks given of course, just a fact. We had some of the best teachers found in the valley, especially both Mrs. Snapp our band teacher that recognized that even though I couldn’t read a note of sheet music, had an ear, for rhythm and a natural talent for drums and percussion. There was this one chick there that was a bit of a premadonna , that thought her butt didn’t smell, that also thought she was the teachers pet, she found out very quickly, that I had the lead in most musical endeavors which no doubt pissed Angie off, but who cared? I was playing both drill, and pep band and loved the heck out of it, even to do drum accompaniment on a few choir recitals. Yes I took choir.

Of course too was Miss Verin , who really taught me about life and relationships along with home ec. which I’m glad I took, since I could cook, and most of my friends couldn’t. But my favorite teacher was absolutely, Miss. Hobson. She was the Librarian, and took care of that electronic media center there. She was the one that said and urged me to pursue, my life in radio and TV. Life in Hazzard was a thrill a moment. Much of those thrills were gained quite peacefully, the others by heavy pedal pressed even harder using many of the roads in and around Hazzard as test tracks. Two of which had slight elevations in the road that if approached at the right speed would give one altitude, and ya’ll thought the General Lee was the only car that jumped. Hell we were doing that 6 years prior to the Dukes being on TV, and if you think that Gen Lee was the first hot rod that wore Confederate colors and had the name of a confederate general, think again in 1977 , we gave birth to the General Jackson.

So as I close this edition the question on your mind is, obviously why another blog page?

Our President called me and said that club news needed its own page while the radio werx and combo for the two clubs should remain on HazzardAyre. So it is, so its done.

But since my brain is near drained and to forgo any more strain, I’m in Bed.
