So got up to check sugar level, a bit high but in range. And then looked at my email. Everyday Farmers Almanac posts this thing of best things to do today. On there are articles that were there a month to two months ago. Do they not have anything new or just gotten lazy?

Then last night caught the weekly Twin Falls City council meeting. That I was cheering Rebecca on just about every motion she made and also voted against, I like her, not only because she’s the best looking city council member I have ever met, but she speaks her mind and doesn’t let the rest muscle her out.

Chris Talkington, is not a person I trust anywhere. The peanut brain tried to swindle me out of a office rental many, many years ago, then after , blocked ever attempt at our entrance to getting club business on KMVT, even when I was working next door at KLIX then. That’s why we bust butt building on firing our own station if we still can put the blocks back together. That’s kinda a long process, over the last several years through ten moves, of radio gig hq, that equipment has been either left behind or we could retrieve it in time to recover it. Any mile, so was watching. For nearly 20 minutes the city discussed this big damn canyon jump. Hey Twin falls City wake up here. Here is the Knytes-of-Anarchy, bidding a 4 day 3 night gig in 2015 in Filer, called DukeFest that will funnel about 300,000 people through Twin Falls. Many eating, at restaurants , café’ and such, buying gas, sleeping at motels. And yet we don’t get this much attention. Added to that CMT, and the entire Hazzard Nation will be center field here in Twin Falls, many with deep pockets and big companies, yet no howdy nothing to us.

Which brings me back to the council meeting Monday night.

The idea of hiring a person to be a consultant on this Canyon jump, with knowledge of all facets of it from aviation mechanicals to media, was brought up. The objection by Rebecca was why spend more money? My suggestion, Rebecca, remember the tow truck owner/operator you discarded last week, who told you he had that experience and was willing to be that consultant? That person is me. 25 years as a Marine combat pilot, associates like Paul Baxley who oversaw all the auto stunts on the Dukes of Hazzard, has been in media for better that 30 years and knows this town, its vision and its people. My charge for my services? Zero, that’s right no charge. But have I gotten a phone call? As far as producing an event, although Rebecca your too young to remember, but in 1975 it was me and the club that was founded, here , that produced the biggest big rig truck, cb/biker jamboree in this areas history. Over 200,000 people went through the gates over there, vendors, and more, we did it, 80% of that work I did. We worked with all public agencies, and in all very little if any real off grounds rowdiness occurred. That record speaks for itself.

But from watching Monday nights City Council meeting on TV, it was quite apparent , that the city of Twin Falls might have bitten off a bunch more than they can chew.

Thanksgiving and the lonely

Well here it is another holiday in Twin Falls.

I was sure that by this time, this year I’d be holding my own cash stash and living in Utah by now, but here I am.

Looking over this past year since I uncorked and relocated everything from Burley, to Twin Falls, I thought Big C, would have made available a place for me to work on LexiBelle and at least be out doing more than I am. Granted I was doing pilot truck duty, but haven’t heard anything for a week, so don’t know what’s up with that. I am in full mind that for sure being out of here next year this time.

Over the last year I have seen my plans and dream of a radio station here go from near there, to not anything. Missing two FCC filing dates due to lengthy promises by three telecomms that said, sure we can give you 100 meg broadband. Seems as though where I reside is not a productive field for a T1 connection, but Syringa , I think is working on it. Although I haven’t heard anything from the cat who drove down last Friday who said he’d crunch numbers and get back to me. Must be too busy doing family things during the Thanksgiving thing to respond to me/.

Not that I’m worried. As I’m first looking for a place for office/studio here in Tweaker Flatts, for the same rates of the greater SLC Utah area. I know good luck on a mission impossible, but I’m going to at least try.

At this point as far as the radio gig, I’m doing it as I can, but my main focus is just paying bills, fixing my own rigs, then getting things ready for the relocate come August next year outta here. By April or May the car is paid, then in May can be looking for office/studio down there to get the radio network rolling out of there where the resources are more plentiful.

I’m praying that Big C, will invite me to Thanksgiving Dinner, but if not its Rural TV and a Swanson TV dinner.YeeHaww .

I think to, to how many others are like me. Leave one year for military service, come back although reluctantly, to here, and find that your family and the friends you had then pretty much gone. Your house sold out from under you, and as far as club members, most of the founding 15 outside of two others except me have moved and are not in a big rush to return if they do at all.

So thought is, make some dinners, get a rig to haul em, and deliver them to some lonely military vets as well as families of vets that are all alone missing family and friends. Leaning on each other just like we all did on the battlefield.

Read the damn blogs

Its that time of year. In a few weeks, many men and women will open presents and attempt to assemble toys and such. Many times the instructions might be a bit obscure but they are instructions.

It’s the same thing I see when I get people including this new gal Candis who places requests for being friends on my Facebook page. Many seem to be in the talent, modeling, acting gig. So If and that’s a BIG IF, I see someone that could be a talent for the club, I’ll say to them give me a buzz. Many times I’ll get the same response, what business? Really? Again I respond the way I do, to so many, READ THE DAMN BLOGS, I don’t just write these things for my health. If ya’ll want to know the club, if you want to know what we do and how we do it, click on the hot links and repeating now READ THE DAMN BLOGS.

That simple.

Oh and the upcoming engineer? Another excuse. Today he’s sick, I know that happens, but in 25 plus years when it comes to club duty, I have only missed being on air, or online, 4 maybe 5 times . All only when either the Internet was sick or I was. The rest of the time through snow that would make all shudder, with ice and slick roads, setting aside my own needs and expenses , taking money from places in my own budget to make a gig, or meeting to be there, I’m there. When Wolf-Pup, was down in Pocatello, I’d still in really terrible weather would walk two miles in snow, rain, cold and all to be on air on our TV show there. Why? Because I believe in this club, I believe in all of you who are patched dues paid up, but just you my wynged brothers and sisters.

I know what we can do when the need is there.

But I can say, Utah is looking better and better.

The path runs right through here and how about us the real guardians of the road?

This morning as I limped in to the Wolf’s Lair, and sat down on my bamboo couch, with my knee in agony from falling on a toew run, I started watching TV, which I’m loving a bit more. Back on free TV and the offerings are as good if not better than cable. Seems we pay a lot for cable but little quality programing in return.

At 17:00 caught a quick report from KTVB 7’s Stephanie Zepelin, who was talking of meth trafficking through Idaho. and how meth use in Idaho is destroying lives and communities. I agree. They showed a map, obtained from the Idaho Federal Attorneys office. That has the routes really off center. The true vectors of meth traffic goes from Salt Lake City to Boise through Burley through Twin Falls to Boise. From Boise over through Arco to Idaho Falls. How do I know this? Because I recover many vehicles involved in these arrests, and know of both origin and destination.

Areas like Twin Falls , did not get their nick names of Tweaker Flatts, and Rupert didn’t get its name of Tweaker Ville for nothing. Major Meth and cocaine distribution points abound. Minidoka County Sheriffs office who is in bed with many meth dealers shut up and ignore such things, likewise Cassia County’s sheriffs office also turns a blind eye.

Twin Falls is one of the delivery the major delivery points in all of Idaho as well as western Idaho and northern Nevada. Much of the product gets made here in Twin, and stored here by the brick, then transported to Jackpot and onto Wells for delivery to northern California and southern Oregon.

But Stephanie’s report was good, just needed to go a bunch farther.

Okay its that time of the year. We had several heavy duty toews over the last three days, then were on hand as back up for a canyon rescue here in Twin Falls. Guess a few youth were trying to do a cliff climb, slipped and fell. Twin Falls County Sheriffs office deputies and SAR repelled down the face of the canyon to rescue the trapped youth on a island, near the cliffs.

At first there was thought of using boats in an attempt to walk on the ice, but by the this time much of the solid ice had been softened to the slush point.

I watched the series on TV called Highway through Hell, on the WX Channel. It’s a good one, but lets look at what we in the business do here in Idaho. I’d find it interesting to see a reporter(hint here Steph) to ride along for a good day with someone in towing, much would be learned. Maybe enlightening some Idaho’s motorists wizzing by at 70 MPH, inches from us doing our jobs. Yes there are move over laws in Idaho, but few motorists obey them. Most drivers think the move over law only applies to law enforcement or say ambulance or fire trucks. By the time we in towing finish all those are gone leaving us as naked as a baby in nursery school. No protection. Our industry has changed , there are both the prehistoric types of tow drivers in Idaho and area , as well as true professionals that treat our professions seriously. Charge a reasonable price and have to work at all hours in all temperatures. I’d truly love to see one of these news outfits do something on us here. Guess that’s one of the reasons, there is HazzardAyre huh?

Got church in the morning, but in closing, and I’m not just focusing on Stephanie either, Miss Holt from KMVT is also a great reporter. Tragically I don’t see them being here for long. Reporters this good don’t stay long, they get some hours on air, but the meander to larger markets like Salt Lake City and even bigger.

so its going to be one of those nights.

I have always said, before Idaho starts booking big events or increasing its income , maybe addressing Internet and other communications might be a good start.
The communication infrastructure in Idaho especially rural and sub rural areas like Twin Falls, Burley and others is poor.
Broadband bandwidth is narrow, and extremely slow. 
What we need is to invite new tech , before we invite Canyon jumps and other events.

Metro Utah still looking good

Big plans are the things of dreamy nights and mucho brews. Guy wants to jump a canyon, or a MC wants to build a both OTA and Streaming radio station. But then you start peeling back the covers and layers and discover, that even though the jewel looks bright on the surface, its very crusty and rusty under .

After the big introduction press conference swindle meeting of last night at O’Leary Junior high, yesterday, in winding down I began looking over things, considering on just basing the media werx here in Tweaker Flatts as its called in the REAL WORLD, and then started looking over both facilities as well as IP pipelines. In both cost and effect, Salt Lake City and surrounding areas still out numbers and outshines Idaho. Heck its even a bit warmer down there. Plus the headaches of human resources are less there as well as pickable fruit from that human resource tree. So what to do. Being elected of the Utah Charter which includes this sub charter here in Idaho, I have to help make these decisions. Thing is, for all it is, I just can’t yet say Idaho be the place, or at least Tweaker(Twin-Falls) Idaho be the place. I just can’t.

So then I get to thinking of yesterday’s meeting. Here comes such operations as ABC news, NBC,CBS and major media players, they’re going to need some serious internet and other horsepower here to get information streams going both ways. Plus streaming video and audio to that home port in NYC and Florida, and yes even HollyWierd.. If its taking this long to roll out HazzardAyre and even to get us a fiber optic feed in and out of here to give us horsepower, over 7 months with a net loss of $15k, in ad revenue to us as a station, missed FCC filings and all, will outside interests like ABC or these jumping teams to name a few going to just raise their hands and whoopie? I don’t think so. They’ll look at us and our struggles and say this podunk place just ain’t for us and move off to a more user and accessible friendly IT and so on state or place. Like Boise or Pocatello. Likewise if the city of Twin Falls and all is thinking of reaping the benefits of new influxes of commerce staying business’s both large and small strolling in, both tech as well as partially industrial, then such infrastructure needs will need to be addressed and put into gear or many outsiders from more friendly in all ways ecommerce enterprises are going to leave as fast as they came.

Now then was also thinking of DukesFest West.

The big love of the site of our 1975 edition of same, at the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds in Filer 10 miles west of Twin Falls, is diminishing rapidly.

Alternate locations are being eyed for the event. Two of which are in Utah. Now many would say that makes more sense since Utah has a more advanced infrastructure than Idaho does. True , but things Hazzard and Dukes were born on the back of rural America not urban America. However , even on that places like Idaho Falls, Pocatello, even neighboring Jerome are being looked at. Of em all I’m still looking serious at Tooele Utah for the gig. Reasons in another entry.

I had a long conference call with organization President, Kevin last night over much of this, thought of him give it 20 months see what goes, my thinking 8 months into 2014 at the most. By then car is paid, my other rigs long haul worthy and as such move.

Dig this looked over just the available office rentals in metro Utah. Dig this, for just under $200.00 to a very max of $500.00 and on the below level $50.00 a month the club can have space there with all the plush, bells and whistles, even down at Thanksgiving Point.

So I ask both Kevin and you our membership what the hell are we loosing sleep over Tweaker Flatts just on the maybe, for ? When what we need is only 300 miles away?

The Not in my town attitude continues .

So I ventured out today, considering I had bills to pay and people to see. 15:00 hours came and I remembered this thing KMVT was throwing with the city council of Twin Falls on the Snake River Jump redox. Trust me friends there are not as many night hot spots in Twin Falls as there was before here in 1974. The attitude of nothing big here unless it has a horse and plow attached to it, will be given an open arms welcome, and a few memories of that day in 1974, of the rowdy goings on here. Many say it was bills left unpaid, naw that ain’t it, anyone thinking that is smoking a bit more of that cannabis that was here then , now.

Naw the thing was many gals that were angels before 1974 , became vixens after.

Thought about scrubbing the going to this, thinking food and watching the thing on TV but thought showing up would be a great way to at least give KMVT our standard Channel 11 salute,>but out of some byte my lip diplomacy didn’t deploy that but sat and watched and absorbed the presentations.

Some rather media big wigs, a gal from ABC, came of course I’m interested there because of them being part of Disney and Disney’s connection to their cable channel that has many stars of shows even this old Wolf watches.

Then there were the people of the several looking to earn some cred in doing the jump. Out of em all Big Ed is the one I vote for in being here if the event even happens. Anything with this much impact is going to make these farm town city council members and people a bit nervous. The crowds , the publicity. See for those that have not lived here 80 % of their lives here as I have don’t know that Twin Falls, unlike say Boise or even eastern Idaho does not want this town on the map. Much less this size of a magnifying glass. In fact many in Twin Falls would just as soon, take Twin Falls off the map. The attitude is, lets let the kids grow up, go to college somewhere else and move away, so me and the Mrs. can sit on our rocking chairs on our old farm, in peace watching that plow tied to the mule rust. And like any mule its hard to get this area to move on anything good for them. It’s like trying to get a kid to eat spinach. You can force it down all you want, and they’ll swallow it if there’s cheese on it. In this case Big Ed buying a patch of ground to land on in Jerome County, not Twin Falls. Now then, with all the scurrying I was not going to say anything, but a prompting was pushing, hey might as well lend a welcome and give hopefully get some outside media ink, for the Knytes. So a few of those looking to speak, at this meeting left, so I got up, explained who I was, and now having the honor at least for the next 24 months of being charter President(thanks for the votes) explained I was the Charter President, and that the Knytes-of-Anarchy and SAMCROM MC welcomed them to the city favoring Big Ed. Why? because for the most part ED is doing the majority of his effort on his own dime, on a bike, not some dang thing going into space, but a bike. Something with a Harley connection. Second Big Ed, is a kountry boy, of simple roots that sees this as a self advancement opportunity rather than a pure kudos economic opportunity. So I did my thing and sat down. Listened to rather long winded folks, saying how great they are , what they can do etc. If I knew this to being a serious gig, (maybe we have time) but I’d submit a jet powered 69 Charger (General Lee) and jump that canyon. Hey the General has jumped everything else, why not the Snake River? Thing is I got bored.

Now lets look at this from past efforts on our behalf and others. The big Burley boat race, brings in a ton of tourist dollars, that’s something ABC could do to wet a few appetites cover that. Then there is the Twin Falls Air Show. On the side of the Knytes, lets look at our Jamboree of all things truck, CB radio etc, in 1975 right after Evel did his jump. The Knytes brought in just over 250,000 people over 4 days, and filled the Filer Fairgrounds of Twin Falls County. The Hazzard County Nationals/DukesFest West will do twice that. Thing is big events are not welcome here, although we try, and so do others.

Okay then, needing nicotine and a wizz break, went out and in the hall was this hot blonde that I thought was from CH-6, I have always said, if you want to see eye candy doing news , you watch ch-6 out of Nampa.

But who ended up sitting next to me? Stephanie Zepelin from CH-7. She was somewhat jittery, her foot was twitching so bad I thought she’d loose her shoe. Good looking. If she’s ever looking for greener fields, HazzardAyre TV has a place for her.

So was in the hall of O'Leary Junior High the new one. Where this fact finding meeting that was little more than a press announcement and media kiss butt session, but out there was this hot blonde. Thinking as I said she was from 6 , I went over. Thought she’d run a blip, but found she’s from 11. We all know how that went. Rachel Holt. Again someone I’m keeping an eye on, she has spice. But we know how the interview of me there went. It went, but she takes it to studio, Joe Martin looks at it, see’s me in it, knowing shit’ll hit the fan with Chris, guess what? No interview. This will change mid year next year as 2015 looms larger and for and of DukesFest West.

Some asked what that is, and its really a 4 day gig, outside, to celebrate all things Dukes of Hazzard, and true southern culture. From southern food, grass roots show what ya drove car/truck/bike show. Celebs from the show, Shooter Jennings on stage for two nights the works. What we have planned will make that Canyon jump look pale by comparison. But I am getting off track. Wonder if ABC and others will cover that?

Stephanie has a foot in the door as an exclusive story, but others are welcome to do pre news ink for it if they want.

Any mile it was a big night. Nothing big decided, many thinking it would be were disappointed. HazzardAyre Radio and TV will cover it all and keep all informed. Have a big engineering meeting in the AM so need to sack out.

At some point you have to shed the old skin for new skin to grow

Many times on these pages I criticize maybe too much, but I throw manure on KMVT 11 out of Twin Falls. It’s not my intent to just throw crap at them, by and small they do a pretty good job over there. Are they cut throat, and willing to throw a client under the bus just to protect a long going feud? Perhaps, but I must say they have began some cleaning house over there.

The news department is doing better they got rid of that older co anchor and put Aimee Burnett in there as co anchor. Her voice is a bit too high an octave for news delivery but she does well. There are a few there that are making 11 better, yet they keep the old farts there, and that stifles any advancements. Likewise a inside way of thinking of not rocking the almighty predominant religion here’s boat. Joe Martin , I guess is okay for a news person, but fewer than half if that of the news crew there are even from or native to this area or Idaho.

I think, in my prowl , that if these old stalwarts were retired, Chris Pruett would get out of there as GM, and allow one of these younger ones to tear the roof off the place, KMVT could get to a place of the same excellence in news broadcasting which is the only open thing they do, since the rest is of a network genre.

I looked over KMVT’s job slot, the pitch in there is that they own the market. This is not true, and if anyone is listening and reading, KMVT’s crown is about to be tarnished if not removed. Confederate Steele, Media, just put down some of the final pieces to acquire the old channel 35 spot that was vacated when KPVI pulled out and reluctantly sold the FoX network to KMVT. Asking the question does KMVT need to cover their ass so much they need to buy their competition? Why not improve quality. Any how I’m getting off course. One of the hearts of what will soon become Confederate Steele’s network for TV is of course the video side of us at HazzardAyre TV. This will include a three times daily news broadcast. With a bit more of a spicy and more fight the system attitude than many have dared to run. Not completely for the 18-36 demo, but a more redneck rebel southern style demo. Yes there are plenty here.

The new network will include programming from Hot-M TV, as well as programming not seen in years, from the Dukes-of-Hazzard to BJ & the Bear. Not just that but network made productions. KMVT may be a bit too timid to peel off the old skin to let new skin come in and grow, but we will be planting new seeds.

I thought at the first of it when both KIVI came in and expanded their local translator system to include a station office, that there would be some challengers to KMVT, likewise , KTVB’s sub station I thought would deliver more stories from the area, but has reluctantly declined to do.

Likewise there are limited video production outlets here to do complete turnkey TV ad production except KMVT. That is changing. Confederate Steele will do that as well.

Now it might interest ya’ll to know, the place that my own broadcast wings got wind under them, was KMVT’s old home ship KLIX, both TV and Radio. Mostly radio. When I started there, in the market there was 3 other stations here, KEEP AM 1450, KART AM 1400, and KMTW FM 96.5 . Charlie Tuma was the GM and reluctantly Charlie was spooked to take on ye ole wolf. But some arm twisting and a bunch of ad dollars, and right after Pete Arbogauhst’ show there I did what became Dixie Diesel Radio. We first cranked that up at KMTW. However KLIX, and a friend in sales got me to KLIX. The show went viral as they say. Dixie Diesel as it was then Long Haul Radio, was produced by our group then called the Teenage Truckers Association that became the parent of us now as the United American Independent Truckers Association. We played not only good old trucker style country music, but brought in classic southern rock, as well as new age then rock like Pink Floyd. We did truckers news, weathercasts, and news of all areas of truck transportation industry, including us in towing. Nobody had done that before. Towing was then seen as far as any advertising to be limited to want ad papers and the phone book. Who cared about those of us waking up at midnight in the 25 degree cold and snow to go do a wreck or slide off? Except us, it was a got to be one to know em kind of thing. Of course the history of our media arm is long, and I’ll dive into that at another time.

But I caught a break and so did the reformed UAITA in 1991, I was living in Salt Lake City. Caught news of a station in Price Utah, that was running the Interstate Radio Network. The Dixie Diesel Shop, the first performance diesel, and custom shop for big and small trucks had barely opened. The name was catchy, but we needed a path direct to our customers the owner operator OTR truckers. ITRN was that path. But I wanted to take it further. So a bit of padding with cash and KOAL AM, there aired the first 6 months of what is still today Dixie Diesel Radio. The sister radio show of HazzardAyre. Over the years additional shows like Highway Hooker Radio for us in towing came.

Attempts to put what we had going on TV went to deaf ears. Until I got a door opened in Pocatello at Pocky’s Cable Access Channel CH-12. All of a sudden there were people watching cable access that hadn’t ever watched. When Chris Pruett took over GM duties at KMVT, I made an appointment to go see him and bury the hatchet. The big hold back to KMVT and us on there was one shot that looks like this>emphasizing the concept we love tows or as we word it we luv toews. that one shot was seen as exploiting women by Chris and other media. To them, its porn. Really? Grow up. blood and guts is fine during prime time, but me kissing a gals toes on camera being seen as porn? Again grow up. Of course after that Chris and I have gotten back into a feud, simply because I showed him that his bid for a local talent find for America’s Next Top Model, was as bad as anything we had in mind if not more racy, and well.
